In my practice are always looking for new solution for complex foot and ankle deformities and it is always a challenge when a patient has a collapsible has plainovalgus or a severe post-terial tibilia fracture or even a severe arthritis of the ankle joint that we found orthotic don’t always control the deformity and provide the support the patient needs. The Richie brace has been a good method for us to provide tri-plane correction. I had one patient who had post polio syndrome, she had a drop foot and she had rally just existed for many year with her foot almost dragging to the ground. She hadn’t sought out treatment for it and she was in her sixties. She came to see me, so we casted her for a Richie brace with a dynamic assist which provided her the assistance she needed to be able to walk around comfortably and she came in a few months after she gotten the brace and said it had changed her life and really made a big difference for her. This is the typical story we hear from patient who come in chronic pain and just not getting the control they need with orthotics They were told they need an ankle fusion or a complex surgery with a long period of non-weight bearing with an uncertain outcome and through conservative methods with the Richie brace they are able to achieve pain relief and also the mobility they have been looking for so long.
